Organizational moves leave workforce baffled, indifferent

Either lead, follow or get out of the way.

Report on Friday: more organizational weirdness bubbling down from on high -- with the head-shaking and “what will happen next” looks between people in the know.

Terry Calen has been removed from his managerial position overseeing EI/Retouching, and for all intents and purposes may be leaving Ivey. Most folks who have worked here know him as the employee with the longest tenure on staff IIRC.

There “are currently negotiations between himself and the company to find a position.” Hey, good luck with that... and don't let the door hit you on the way out!

The company decision-makers appear to be genuinely clueless about why sacking long-time employees would have a negative effect on their workforce. Slowly but surely they are having it their way. There seems to be a plan, and the plan appears to ask the digital equivalent to: do you want fries with that?

I would make a guess as to who the next person on high (or in the way) is to be led out to pasture but it is so obvious that I don't want to start any rumors. If they are smart, they already have a plan in place. Hmmm, speaking of which...

The relocation of Ivey is back on the front burner. Now that the new ERP system is about to be installed (to take the place of the BBX), the focus will return to moving. I heard the company promises to do “a poll” and will look at everybody's current commute. The overwhelming odds are the move will be south -- quite possibly, at least as far south as Tukwila or Renton.

There is probably alot of research left over from John Tubbs’ work. At that time, the employees were told there would not be a move across Lake Washington. But who knows how the delay will affect how south the company may need to go to find the necessary floorspace? It is no secret that ownership/management want to repeat what they did with Ivey Oregon.

Yes , Ivey has become so "Corporate" that they use lines like "integrity" to move their master
plan forward without any conscience that tenure
is a dirty word because that likely means you
make way to much money to fit in their new
future - NOT YOUR NEW FUTURE.
good luck on finding a new way to make it and start looking NOW.

Start looking? You should have started looking on 5 May, 2005.
